The 12th Man is a venture led by fans of Oxford United to create a ring fenced transfer fund to be used to sign players, pay wages and bring in emergency loan signings. Through various fund raising initiatives, the 12th Man has already raised over £50,000.

Latest News from the fund:

Online donations page launched

Our new online donations page is now live.

In return for a small donation to the 12th Man fund, we will if you wish send you a small packet of badges, or fridge magnets, or a mousemat, available in a variety of designs.

Or you can simply make an online donation to the fund and receive absolutely nothing!   Except hopefully a slightly better team than you otherwise might have done.

See the ‘Donate’ menu link here on the site for details and pictures of the items available.

All surpluses after the deduction of production and postal costs and PayPal commission costs will go to the fund.

Sign up for the ‘Fanpower Stadium’ and help OUFC win cash!

A reminder from the 12th Man, if you haven’t already seen it on another site, that you can help OUFC win cash in a new Football League promotion simply by signing up to a ‘virtual stadium’ online.

The initiative is run by the Football League’s main sponsor npower. Just visit the title sponsor’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/npowerFootballLeague to sign up. The promotion is referred to as the Fanpower Stadium. Clubs in the FL have been given a target based on their level of support. Ours is 7,474 which will take some achieving, so please get your fellow fans, family and friends to sign up TODAY. The promotion does run till early June, but do it TODAY because the aim is to reach the target as quickly as we can.

Once you have signed up, please add mentions on FaceBook of OUFC connected themes – the examples given are player surnames, manager’s surname, Kassam Stadium, Oxford United, the U’s – all FB mentions and updates will be counted towards a further prize fund.  Also Twitter mentions will score points.

A fan from each winning club will be chosen at random from within the Fanpower Stadium to nominate how the money is spent from a list of options.

Stuff to mark THAT MATCH

We’ve got a couple of new items to mark the result against the team from down the A420.

All being well they will be available tomorrow pre the Wombles match for just £2.50 each, from Sue Trafford at her stall by the ticket office, or from Michael North at the programme stall inside the South Stand Bar, or from guys with 12th Man buckets around the ground. Even Dave Cudd (Cuddy) may have some at the Priory, since he and his son produce them for the 12th Man!

Both are available as fridge magnets. The first is our ball boy who played a memorable part in the game.  The second is our take on the win with 10 men. We hope you like them, there are limited quantities of each and we have other ideas too, so grab them while you can. Artwork on these courtesy of Paul Wakeford, ideas courtesy Paul and Mark Bryden.

Also, we can do either design as a full size mousemat which is yours for just £6.

New standing order scheme – Can you help?

This week the 12th Man Fund is launching a new standing order donation scheme. We want to invite as many fans as possible to commit to making a small regular monthly donation to the 12th Man Fund, to enable OUFC to sign more players beyond the planned budget.

Early this season, the fund supported Robbie Hall’s very successful loan period during which he scored five goals in eleven League appearances. Our second ‘signing’, Mehdi Kerrouche, is in the middle of a one month loan. Mehdi made an instant impact on his first appearance with his first touch, setting up the move which led to our winner against Dagenham & Redbridge on Valentine’s Day.

We want to be in a position to fund further players next season, and for that to happen the fund needs to keep growing. As little a donation as £2 a month will become a massive team booster over the year if we unite on this and many fans take part.  If you can contribute £5 or more a month then more power to the manager’s elbow!

To sign up, either

  • complete the standing order form included in Saturday’s match programme
  • or download and print the form here (link opens a new window containing the form for printing)

When you’ve completed the form, just send it to your bank.

Alternatively, if you have internet banking, just set up a regular monthly payment to our account. The account details for the 12th Man Fund are on the form.

We will also have copies of the form around the ground on matchdays.

Small, regular donations – the price of a pint or even two – can make a big difference.

Please support this scheme , sign up TODAY, and help us help the club pursue the dream!

Mehdi Kerrouche, the latest 12th Man backed signing

The latest signing to be supported financially by the 12th Man Fund was unveiled today, when Mehdi Kerrouche was signed on a month’s loan from the club down the A420.

Mehdi Kerrouche

Mehdi Kerrouche playing for a former club

We have managed to find a picture of Mehdi playing for a former club but not wearing a red shirt. No doubt a picture of him in a yellow shirt will be available soon.

The fund is pleased to have been able to again help the club with an emergency signing. We hope Mehdi gets the chance to improve on his impressive goals to games ratio whilst playing for the U’s.

We also like the idea that players want to join our team, and are reluctant to go the other way on the A420!
