The 12th Man is a venture led by fans of Oxford United to create a ring fenced transfer fund to be used to sign players, pay wages and bring in emergency loan signings. Through various fund raising initiatives, the 12th Man has already raised over £50,000.

Euro 2012 competition update prior to the final

With the finalists for Sunday now decided, here is an updated table, after adding five points for each correct semifinalist and 10 points for each correct finalist.

Bob has cemented his good start and is in pole position. Ray after his good start in the first round has faded. The Magne Aldrin (Norwegian Computing Center in Oslo) prediction program is doing well. At the lower end of the table, Michael North is putting in a strong bid for the wooden spoon.

Come and take part in a Sports Quiz at the Nuffield Arms in Littlemore Road on Saturday 30th June starting at 8 pm.

Entry will be £5 a team. Teams can be of 2-4 players. Questions will cover football and other sports.

A cash prize of 50% of the takings will go to the winners, with 50% going to the 12th Man Fund. There will be a raffle.

Euro 2012 competition – group stage table

The group stages of Euro 2012 finished last night of course, and here is the interim table showing the points scored by everyone who entered the competition. 

It’s a good start for Ray who leads the way with a massive 13 points out of a possible 16, closely followed by Bob, Chris, Nigel and Tim. Magne Aldrin of the Norwegian Computing Center in Oslo is also doing well, using the results of their prediction program.

Brahma Bull avoids bottom spot on alphabetical order, ahead of Ian, both with 5 points, with five people on 6, in a tight battle for the wooden spoon of punditry!

12th Man Euro 2012 competition underway

With Euro 2012 now well underway, entries to the 12th Man Euro 2012 competition are now closed. We have 36 entries and thanks to all who entered. The first summary of the leaders will be published on completion of the group stage.

As a reminder: The winner will be the person with the most points, and as well as bragging rights he or she will receive two tickets to a pre-season friendly, courtesy of OUFC.

Points scored as follows: Last 8, each team scores 2 points if predicted and in correct position (group winner, or runner up) and 1 point if predicted but in wrong position; Last 4, each correct team scores 5 points; Final, each correct team scores 10 points, correct winner scores 20 points, correct score and teams a further 10 points.

The amount raised is £43,958 since the fund was set up, of which £42,170 has been passed to OUFC as donations allocated as follows:
