The 12th Man is a venture led by fans of Oxford United to create a ring fenced transfer fund to be used to sign players, pay wages and bring in emergency loan signings. Through various fund raising initiatives, the 12th Man has already raised over £50,000.

Flag bearer spots available

Lead the team out on matchdays!

The 12th Man group’s Flag Bearer package is available for a number of upcoming matches, including next Saturday against Northampton Town, and the match on New Year’s Day. The package makes a great early Christmas present for a U’s fan young or old, and raises money to boost the playing squad. In return for a donation of £50 to the 12th Man fund, you get an unforgettable matchday experience which includes

 

1. A full ‘behind the scenes’ stadium tour before the game, courtesy of OUFC, for the flag bearer and one accompanying family member or friend.
2. The opportunity to meet players and manager during the tour, subject to their availability. The chance to take photos.
3. The flag bearer is taken pitchside 15 minutes before the kick off to lead out the team with the 12th Man flag. Centre circle photos will be taken by the official photographer.
4. The flag bearer’s name will be announced on the PA system and will be included in the match programme (unless booked after the copy deadline).
5. 12th Man badge and autograph sheet.

New badges available now!

2012-13 12th Man Home Badge

We’ve produced a new 12th Man badge showing this season’s kit design.

These badges are fully enamelled and are 38mm tall with shirt and shorts bearing the OUFC logo by permission of the club, and the legend ‘The 12th Man’.

The new badges will be on sale at various points around the ground from tomorrow’s game against Gillingham. Sue Trafford will have some on her stall in front of the South Stand by the revolving doors, Michael North will have some at his programme stall in the South Stand Bar, and Dave Cudd will have some at the Priory. Additionally some of us will be selling them around the ground.

As before they will be sold for £2 each with the profits going to the 12th Man fund.

Quiz Night – Thursday 13 September

The 12th Man will be holding its next Quiz Night on Thursday 13th September 2012 at Kennington Sports & Social Club.

The start time will be 8pm. Entry will be £5 per team ( with a maximum of 4 people per team).

Walk stop press – latest news, new start point

The walk takes place tomorrow! 

 

The walk will now start from the White Hart pub in Eynsham, who have  kindly offered us their hospitality. Many thanks to landlord Russell. We really appreciate his help in providing support to us at short notice and we commend the pub to Us fans.

12 Miles for the 12th Man

A 12 mile sponsored walk for the 12th Man Fund will take place on 25th August before the first home Saturday match of the new season against Plymouth Argyle.

Additional walkers are needed to join what is sure to be a great experience. All money donated will be used to boost the Fund, which will be used to extend the playing budget later in the season. If you would like to join the walk and raise sponsorship from your family and friends, please get in touch by email to walk@ox12thman.org.uk or call the walk organiser Danny Johnston on 07960 315760. A sponsorship form can be downloaded and printed here .

Danny Johnston said

“The more fans get involved in the walk the better. Please get in touch if you would like to walk, or sponsor a walker. All the money raised will help the Us’ to target promotion .”

This will be the first 12th Man event of the 2012-13 season. Walkers will start from the White Hart, Eynsham at about 9.30am and will aim to reach the stadium in good time for a drink before the match. The event is dubbed “12 Miles for the 12th Man”.

Fans can sponsor the walkers online at www.ox12thman.org.uk where you will find more details of the walk and how to make a donation online or pledge an amount. The organisers welcome commercial sponsors, whose participation will be publicly acknowledged.

Oxford United Chairman Ian Lenagan commented

“12th Man do such a lot to help the club and we are pleased to see them going the extra mile once again. We hope as many supporters as possible get involved and show their support.”

Update, fund, meeting etc

On Wednesday the 12th Man group held a very helpful meeting attended by Ian Lenagan, OUFC Chairman. Notes will be out in due course, meanwhile the current fund total was reported at £3,283 with the amount raised by the 12th Man since day one now £45,477.

Notable recent income includes £861 from the programme sales stall run by Michael North, and £373 from Open Day donations for autograph sheets which were kindly printed free of charge by the Oxford Mail. Standing order donations recently were £151 and we thank those who have committed to making small monthly donations (see link for how to join).
