We are pleased to announce that the recent auction of the place in a squad picture and attendance at the club’s 1st team squad photocall has raised the magnificent sum of £405 from the highest bidder. That sum will be a first contribution to the fundraising target of £20,000 announced earlier this week under the Yellow Army banner. We are checking with the winner that he is willing to have his name mentioned in the public domain, as it is possible he will not be able to attend on the day and a friend will take his place in the picture.
The 12th Man is a venture led by fans of Oxford United to create a ring fenced transfer fund to be used to sign players, pay wages and bring in emergency loan signings. Through various fund raising initiatives, the 12th Man has already raised over £50,000.
Latest News from the fund:
The 12th Man raffle at the Fun Day on Sunday had, as a prize, attendance at the 1st team squad photocall and appearance in a special squad picture, courtesy of Oxford United. The winner will attend the photocall, meet the players, and then take his or her place in a full squad picture which will be supplied to him or her in digital form afterwards.
Unfortunately no-one drew the winning ticket for this prize in the raffle, so the 12th Man group are now open to offers for it. The prize will go to the highest bidder.
If you would like to place a bid, please email email@example.com giving your name and your bid amount by 5pm on Friday 21 June. Paul Ridgley or Trevor Lambert will acknowledge all bids and will advise bidders of the leading bid at 1pm on Friday in case they wish to put in a higher bid before 5pm. The money raised will be added to the 12th Man Fund to supplement the squad budget.
Bidders please note: the photocall is expected to take place on Friday July 26th.
Come and meet the 12th Man group at our stall on Sunday 16th June at the Oxford United Youth and Community Trust Family Fun Day. The event is being held at United’s Training Ground in Roman Way, off Horspath Road and runs from 10pm to 4pm.
We’ll be selling tickets for a special on the spot Prize Draw. The first prize will be a unique invitation, courtesy of Oxford United, for a lucky fan to the first team squad official photo call. There will be many other prizes including a flag bearer package for a League 2 game of the winner’s choice. He or she will receive a VIP stadium tour and will meet the players and manager, and will then lead the team out with the 12th Man flag, and will receive a special framed certificate as a memento of the occasion.
