12th Man is suspended
The 12th Man group have been informed by Oxford United that in future all fundraising activity on match days will be controlled by the club’s Yellow Army initiative, including the supporters’ bar and all unofficial merchandise.
This is clearly in response to the 12th Man group’s departure from the Yellow Army initiative. We are disappointed that differences of approach to fundraising are not tolerated within the Oxford United family and that there is no longer a place for independence of thought and action.
Accordingly we are suspending all 12th Man activity with immediate effect. We wish the Yellow Army well in its endeavours.
The 12th Man Fund currently contains £14,800 which is solely available to Oxford United to assist with the funding of new first team players.
Members of the 12th Man group would like to express our sincere thanks to every one of the thousands of Oxford United supporters who have helped the 12th Man in recent years whether by contributing ideas, expertise, time or by buying merchandise or participating in fundraising events. You have helped to raise over £57,000 for your football club, which is a record of which supporters can be truly proud.
